About Me
Greetings all and thank you for taking an interest in my site!
This webpage is dedicated specifically to my work as a journalist. I am currently focusing my efforts on writing some bitchin’ features for Mashable, while freelancing for Newsday on the side.
In December 2012, I finished my master’s in journalism at Hofstra University. For the capstone of my coursework, I created an in-depth multimedia report on the state of Nassau County’s Western Bays.
Previously, I have interned as a hyperlocal reporter at Newsday during the summer of 2012 and at the Long Island Herald during the summer of 2011.
From September 2011 through June 2012, I served as managing editor of Long Island Report. During that time our site was awarded first place in the category “Best Web Site” by the Press Club of Long Island, an honor for which I am both proud and grateful.
It was a tremendous learning experience collaborating with my co-managing editor Jim Mancari, our advisor Kelly Fincham and all of the talented and dedicated journalism students at Hofstra. It is a testament to our hard work that we were recognized among the various professional outlets that all do a terrific job covering Long Island news.
I have done freelance reporting and writing for the Long Island Press, the Long Island Herald, Patch, the Hofstra Chronicle and metroBASEBALL Magazine. Prior to my work as a journalist, I was a sports blogger for Bleacher Report, Mets Chronicle and Pro Sports Blogging.
In what seems like a past life at this point, I completed my undergraduate degree at Cornell University, graduating with a B.S. in Human Development in 2006. Aside from journalism, I also write songs and poems. I am the singer and primary songwriter in the band Unaware Wolf. We recently released our first album which is free to stream and download on our BandCamp page. Recording the album, it was a great honor and pleasure to have as a producer Delicate Steve Marion, a talented musician and magnanimous human being.
That’s my story. Feel free to connect if you’d like to chat about the universe or any of its contents.
